Healthcare Issues Ministry of Health and Prevention commemorates World Stroke Day with two-day awareness event at hospitals and malls
The Ministry of Health and Prevention (MOHAP) in collaboration with its strategic partners, successfully organized a two-day stroke awareness event held across all of the Ministry's hospitals and in select shopping malls. The event, which was held in line with the celebration of ‘World Stroke Day’ under the theme ‘Every second is of value,’ was aimed towards raising awareness of the stroke symptoms, methods of prevention and highlighting the latest medical developments for stroke patients. According to recent reports, strokes have been identified as the primary cause of death in the UAE, while up to 50 per cent of these cases can be prevented.

The Ministry of Health and Prevention (MOHAP) has released a circular cautioning the public on the use of a medical device used to improve eyesight and one batch of a medicine used for the treatment of hypertension Both products are not registered in the Ministry of Health and Prevention, but it was decided to release the relevant circulars as a precautionary measure to protect public health.

Healthcare Issues Ministry of Health and Prevention announces Visiting Doctors Program for November 2018
The Ministry of Health and Prevention (MOHAP) announced the details of its Visiting Doctors Program for the month of November 2018, to provide advanced diagnostic and therapeutic services to patients. Doctors participating in this month's program will be visiting Al Qassimi Hospital, Khorfakkan, Saqr, Shaam, Fujairah, Dibba, Kuwait, Obaidullah and Kalba Hospitals, to provide medical services in their respective fields of expertise. These include Cardiology, Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Paediatric Orthopaedics, Paediatric Neurology, Psychiatry, Endocrinology, Spine Surgery, Gastroenterology, Paediatric Haematology, Orthopaedics and Speech Therapy.

The Ministry of Health and Prevention recently organized a community awareness event to celebrate World Food Day in collaboration with the College of Health Sciences - Nutrition Department of the University of Sharjah held under the theme of ‘Healthy diet and cooking.’ The event featured healthy cooking methods for daily meals as part of adopting a healthy lifestyle and reducing the prevalence of chronic diseases in society such as diabetes, obesity, and heart illness.

Healthcare Issues Ministry of Health and Prevention’s Heart Experts program to designate students as awareness ambassadors for cardiovascular health
The Ministry of Health and Prevention (MOHAP) has announced the second phase completion of its initiative, ‘Heart Experts,’ which designates a select group of students to serve as awareness ambassadors for cardiovascular health in their schools, neighborhood and the local community. The program was launched in an experimental stage last May at the Al Mawakeb School in Al Barsha. Under the program, students serving as ambassadors for the ‘Heart Experts’ initiative help organize events and consultations aimed at promoting a supportive environment for cardiovascular health.

Healthcare Issues Ministry of Health and Prevention organizes workshop for emergency medical teams
The Ministry of Health and Prevention held a workshop for the emergency medical teams (EMTs) at the Ministry’s Training and Development Center in Sharjah. Conducted in collaboration with the World Health Organization (WHO) regional office, the workshop was attended by H.E. Dr. Salem Al Darmaki, Advisor to the UAE Minister of Health and Prevention; Dr. Abdul Karim Abdullah Al Zarouni, Director of the Ministry’s Emergency, Crisis and Disaster Operations Center; and Nelson Olim from World Health Organization.
