Ministry of Health and Prevention successfully ends second edition of Junior Chef initiative on a high note

The Ministry of Health and Prevention (MOHAP) revealed that its ‘Junior Chef’ initiative successful completed its second phase on a high note—receiving an overwhelming public response for its efforts to promote health awareness among children. Spearheaded by the Ministry’s Education and Health Promotion Department, the ‘Junior Chef’ program aims to stress on the importance of eating healthy food and educating the public, children most especially, about health alternatives. The activities related to the initiative were held in the presence of media and popular Emirati artists Abdullah Bouabid and Abdullah Al Juffali, from July 23 and August 16, 2018 in cooperation with the Sharjah Girl Guides, which reflected a strong boost to the Ministry's efforts to bring down the number of obese children in the country to 12 per cent by 2021, following the goals and objectives set forth in the UAE Vision 2021 National Agenda.

Ministry of Health and Prevention signs an agreement with GSK to ensure delivery of medical supplies during emergencies

The Ministry of Health and Prevention (MOHAP) signed a strategic agreement with GlaxoSmithKline Export Limited (GSK) for the provision and distribution of medical and pharmaceutical stocks in emergency situations. The agreement falls in line with the efforts to strengthen the UAE’s medical health security, according to the Article (4) of Cabinet Decision No. 39 of 2015.

Ministry of Health and Prevention recalls some anti-hypertensive medications containing Valsartan

The Ministry of Health and Prevention (MOHAP) issued a circular ordering the recall of some antihypertensive medicines containing the active ingredient Valsartan, manufactured by Chinese company Zhejiang Huahai Pharmaceutical after the detection of impurities in the active ingredient.  This recall is a precautionary measure taken by the Ministry following the report issued by the European Medicines Agency indicating the detection of a contamination of the active ingredient with N-nitrosodimethylamine (NDMA), a chemical that might lead to cancer. Valsartan is a medicine used for the treatment of hypertension to prevent related cardiovascular complications.

Ministry of Health and Prevention introduces Virtual Reality in the rehabilitation of stroke patients

In line with the UAE Strategy for Artificial Intelligence (AI), one of the vital projects within the framework of UAE Centennial Plan 2071 to improve government performance, accelerate achievement and build creative and innovative work environments, the Ministry of Health and Prevention (MOHAP) announced its plans to introduce Virtual Reality (VR) rehabilitation in physiotherapy for stroke patients, patients suffering from balance disorder and children with development disorders, cerebral palsy and Parkinson's syndrome, using artificial intelligence techniques to provide competitive health services locally and globally.

Ministry of Health and Prevention launches ‘Maharati’ system to boost healthcare electronic training in UAE

The Ministry of Health and Prevention has officially launched the ‘Maharati’ system, a healthcare learning and management system, at the Training and Development Center in Sharjah as part of its continuous efforts to improve the health system and nurture a culture of innovation in the work environment through globally accepted training. Apart from strengthening the UAE’s health industry, ‘Maharati’ also seeks to build a smart e-learning system and sustain effective local and global partnerships to keep up with future changes. Present during the launch were H.E. Awadh Seghayer Al Ketbi, Assistant Undersecretary of Support Service; H.E. Dr. Yousif Al Serkal, Assistant Undersecretary for Hospitals Sector; H.E Dr. Amin Hussain Al Amiri, Assistant Undersecretary of Public Health Policy & Licensing Sector; H.E.
